Under Deceptive Progress

Under Deceptive Progress (2017) documents three villages north of Heathrow Airport, Harmondsworth, Sipson, and Harlington, which will be greatly affected if Heathrow’s third runway is constructed. Since the new runway was proposed in 2003, many residents have moved away and left this region, harming local businesses and engendering uncertainty about its future. The heterogeneity and singularity of this contested space in transition makes the area especially poignant place.

The anchorage, in this study, is based on interviews with residents in the villages, official websites, and newspapers.
